Kaapsehoop Reviews

Charming as heck with beautiful natural surrounds

Due to forestry, its important to preserve our mistbelt grasslands and Kaapsehoop is one of those places. Where else will you see both aloes and moss growing together, on top of a rock? Walk on a plateau in a grassland but on fine black and grey sand between pillars of grey stone, with so much mist you might be in Scotland? the town is also so tiny, you can walk everywhere and even a busy easter weekend cant really be called "busy". Its a good place to see some wonderful unique grassland and great for hiking or just stopping over for a bite to eat.

Lovely area

We've been to Kaapsehoop many times and always enjoy our stay. We had a super walk to the edge of the escarpment and the view was spectacular over the De Kaap Valley, and across to Barberton and the Mkonjwa mountains (on Swaziland border) as we had a pretty clear day.The geology is fascinating as is the plant and bird life. It's a photographer's dream with the changing weather and wild horses about.Have been to the Battery Creek waterfall in the past, a lovely walk. Take a picnic and stay a while. We'll go again to visit dear friends ;-)
